Plot of Episode 38
Three years ago, Avery, the youngest daughter of the Harrington medical family, married Bernard Whitmore, the man who saved her life, and secretly helped him become hospital director. However, before she gives birth, she discovers Bernard is close to Eleanor Hart, and Eleanor’s son Lucas has the surname Whitmore and calls Bernard “Daddy.” Heartbroken, Avery turns to her brothers for support and gives birth to her daughter Lila alone. Bernard misinterprets Avery as cheating on him. The conflict escalates leading to their eventual divorce. Avery resumes her career as a doctor and leaves with Lila while Bernard still deeply loves Avery but the damage he has done to both Avery and Lila is irreparable. The truth that Avery doesn’t know is that Bernard has not betrayed her; Eleanor and Lucas are widow and son of John -the man who saved Bernard’s life- He cares for them out of gratitude but Eleanor schemes to replace Avery as Bernards wife.
